Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your baby and we extend a warm welcome to you. There is no right or wrong way to deal with your thoughts and emotions when dealing with a new diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome and in the first weeks and months juggling the demands of a new born with the additional appointments and challenges can appear overwhelming.

Times have changed and the outdated negative stereotypical images of a child with Down’s syndrome are no longer accurate or relevant.  Support and intervention is available at a very early age to help our children develop, grow and reach their potential.  Our babies and pre-school children are active members of our group enjoying our play sessions, Speech and Language groups, swimming lessons, sing and sign sessions and our Christmas party.

As a charity run by parents for parents - UpsnDowns is here to support families pre and post-natally.  We provide the opportunity to come together with other parents to share experiences, offer advice and signposting and give our children the opportunity to meet, play and learn with their peers.

Please have a look at OUR STORIES to read more about our children, our challenges and our achievements.

In addition, PADS (Positive About Down’s Syndrome) is a website by parents for parents and parents to be, with real life stories about the lived experiences of children and adults with Down’s syndrome and their families, friends and communities. Visit PADS
